the Indonesian people in general do not change the government,
the military and some elites do. The indonesian people in general
get paid with coloured t shirt to demonstrate. In the end, the poor
poorer, the rich richerer.
Even if Indonesia has a coconut head president, it is
a fact that Indonesians has a real electoral system
that enable the coconut head president to become an
"ex".
Was it the military or a small group of elites that made the
change, or was the "coconut head" Habibie voted out of office by
the Indonesian people ?
Compared to the Indonesians, with a population of 100 Million,
it is surprising that they are able to conduct an election without
any need to gerrymeander with the electoral boundaries, nor is
there any need for the ruling party to control the press
and broadcast media, pass new laws that result in walk-over
constituencies where entire section of electorates do not get a
chance to exercise their rights to vote.
Surprisingly for a supposedly less sophisticated political
system of a Third World Country, no Indonesian Opposition
Members will get sued or persecuted by the politicians that
win the Election.
Only in a First World Singapore will the "kiasu-kiasi" mentality
of First World politicians - that boast themselves to be
Talented Elites - will resort to Third World politics to
gerrymeander with the Electoral Systems, resort to controlling
the press and broadcast medias, and pass legislations
to handicap the other Political Parties.
All these are done to the extent that it will
result in about 33 percent - of the eligible 1.5
Million voters - will get to participate in
the election process.
Still the winning party can only achieve 66.6 percent
of the votes from the 33 percent participating voters, and
this is supposed to represent a population of 3 Million
PLUS citizens.
The Indonesian election system saw at least a participation of
almost 80 percent of their population of 100 Million,
and the 66 percent win of the eligible
Indonesian votes by the Winning Candidate - is far more
convincing and representative of the Indoneisan
people compared to what the false election in Singapore
can prove.
Why do indonesians invest in Singapore private apartment? in
fact, they also keep millions in singapore account. Why? ask anyone
and you will hear similar answers. This is the safe heaven. When
there is any problem, they can come to singapore with just their
cloths on their body. In May 1998, a caucasian told me, in
orchard road, every 3 persons you meet one is an indonesian. This
is not too far away.
You must be naive to believe that the Indonesian Chinese will
want to migrate to Malaysia after experiencing what they have gone
through in Indonesia ?
It is like the proverbial truth in "jumping out of
the pot into the fire".
Do you seriously believe that the Indonesian money that flow
into Singapore is clean money ?
For more then twenty over years, the supposedly clean and
anti-corruption Singapore Government has refused to sign an
extradition treaty with Indonesia, which will allow the Indonesian
Government to prosecute and recover the billions
from those who have cheated Indonesia and transferred the ill
gotten gains to overseas financial safe havens like Singapore.
Many of the Indonesians that took flight from Indonesia are
Indonesian Chinese who benefitted during the "free
wheeling" Suharto rule, where the Indoneisan 'guan-xi"
system had enriched many Indonesian Chinese.
Why do you think that the Singapore Government has refused
to sign the extradition treaty, even during the period of Suharto
rule when the relationship with Indonesia is better than with
Malaysia ?
We welcome foreigners coming here to study, live, shopping,
donate in cash or in kind, but don't think we owe you anything for
that. put it this way, Malaysia is much cheaper than singapore, and
they speak bahasa, I don't see indonesians moving and invest in KL,
or JB. even as early as the 70', nanyang university was still the
choice university for many chinese indonesian.
Learn to respect each other, even if we are a little red dot,
...still better than a coconut head president, ex.
Are you politically naive to believe that Malaysia will
accept any growth to their Chinese population that will upset
their Malay Electorates ?
Over the years, Malaysia has welcomed many Indonesians of ethnic
Malay stock and have boosted the ‘Malaysian Population from 9.4 Million in 1965 to
27.7 Million in 2008' This was achieved by their
open door policy in allowing ethnic Malays from Indonesia
to settle in Peninsular Malaysia, and from southern
Philippines into Sabah.
